	Tools The Tools menu is where you can customize your web site and enable or include additional features such as:   Web statistics Chatroom Shopping Cart Search Engines Install Frontpage Extensions User forums CGI Scripts, such as Counters Guestbooks Search engines Form Mailers   What are CGI Scripts? You've undoubtedly visited Web pages and seen "cgi-bin" appear in the location line of your browser. CGI stands for "Common Gateway Interface". It is a server-based service which provides a means of adding expanded functionality to Web pages over and above what HTML provides. This expanded functionality is provided by using small programs, or "scripts", that are executed on the server the Web page files reside on. When you see that "cgi-bin" appear on the location line, you probably executed a CGI script on the server when you initially loaded the page, or will in the course of using the page.   CGI is utilized by placing an appropriate HTML tag in your HTML document ("Web page"). The author of the script you wish to use should provide you with the appropriate HTML tag needed to run that script. When the page is loaded by a browser, i.e. viewed by a site visitor, the tag "calls" the script and it is executed by the server. Note that this is different from Java applets or JavaScript, which are executed on the client (visitor's) system via their browser.   Counters Creating a counter To create and add a counter to your web site's home page 1. Go to cPanel 2. Select CGI Scripts > Counter 3. Select your design, then click: make html 4. Copy the text and placed in your home page (index.htm/index.html) file 5. Check your site   Could not write to counter file The follow error message may be received if you created your counter before your domain name had been fully propogated:   Could not write to counter file: /var/cpanel/counters/xxxx.dat   To fix this problem, simply go into your HTML code for the counter and remove the .dat suffix to the file name. Form Mail (Clone) FormMail-clone is clone of Matt Wright's FormMail.cgi under a less restrictive license. It should behave almost exactly as FormMail.cgi, but it is completely written from scratch so there might be a few minor visual diffrences.   N.B. This is a secured version of a FormMail script, whereas any version of Matt's FormMail.cgi prior to version 1.9 is considered NOT secured. Most web host providers, including TCH, will not allow the unsecured versions of Matt's FormMail.cgi script to be used.   When building a web page form, you will need to reference the script, which will be located at: http://yourdomain.com/cgi-sys/FormMail.cgi   The documentation for Matt Wright's FormMail.cgi might be helpful if you have never used FormMail before. It is available here.
